From curiosity to leadership: Tanja’s journey at Executive Insight

Focus on the journey, not on the speed.

That’s how Tanja describes her path at Executive Insight - a journey that began in 2007, fresh out of university, and evolved into a leadership role shaped by curiosity, resilience, and a deep commitment to client success.

With a Master’s in Information, Medical & Technology Management from the University of St. Gallen, she was drawn to the consulting and software aspects of the business. But what truly captivated her was the complexity of the pharmaceutical world - a space she hadn’t initially planned to enter.

In those early days, there were no templates or trainings to go by – just the consulting and industry experience of partners and peers.

“It was a healthy way to get exposed to different aspects of pharma commercialization.”

Learning by Doing

For her, joining forces with clients to solve unique and new challenges keeps the work engaging and rewarding even today.

Connecting with clients

This hands-on, experience-based approach shaped not only her expertise but also rooted in the company’s culture. “Everyone in the leadership team is keen to connect with clients and help them to make an impact. That’s very different from the scalable, predefined approach of other consulting firms.”

Tanja’s expertise in Medical Affairs and Organizational Transformation has developed by working side‑by‑side with clients to address their most pressing challenges.

“We bring the managerial point of view, and our clients bring scientific and medical expertise. It’s a symbiotic relationship.”

Over the years, Medical Affairs has transformed into a key, central strategic function. Tanja sees it as an essential link between clinical and market access, with a strong focus on patient outcomes.

What Tanja enjoys the most is the people that work at Executive Insight and multi-year partnerships with clients: “This might sound cheesy, but it’s who you work with that matters most”. What she values a lot is the culture of trust and openness. 

Ultimately we care about the value we deliver to clients and the future of the company – we may disagree on the how but strive to a common vision.

This spirit was especially evident during the COVID years. As part of the Operations team, Tanja helped navigate contingency planning, remote work, and team connection. “We had online cooking events, business discussions, and senior leaders even delivered monitors to employees’ homes.” Tanja also recalls that during this period there was a flood of work and the team needed to be protected: 

We had many management discussions and had to learn how to decline business consistently, to make sure it was still digestible for our people. And we were transparent with our choices.

Tanja envisions a future where Executive Insight continues to grow while preserving its culture. She believes the company’s strength lies in its bespoke expertise and experience-based solutions, client-centric mindset, and diverse talent.
