Celebrating 25 Years: A Conversation with Pascal Bieri, Partner and Director of Finance & Operations

Pascal Bieri, Partner and Director of Finance and Operations at Executive Insight

I’ve always made my choices in life based on people,” Pascal reflects. “If there’s a connection, if they inspire me, I’m in.

Resilience, Reinvention, and Relationships: Pascal’s 24-Year Journey at Executive Insight

For Pascal, joining Executive Insight in 2001 wasn’t just a career move - it was a decision rooted in trust, shared values, and a long-standing connection with co-founder Andrea.

From tech to transformation:
The birth of ExIn 2.0

Pascal’s early years at Executive Insight were shaped by a passion for technology. With a background in business administration and an interest in software development, data architecture, and IT systems, he led many of the company’s early tech initiatives.

We were fresh off the Web 2.0 wave - everything felt possible,” he recalls.

But by 2008, reality hit hard. A bold attempt to pivot into software development coincided with the global financial crisis. “We invested heavily, but the IT business is fundamentally different from consulting. We had to make tough decisions.” That period marked a turning point - not just for Pascal, but for the company. “We restructured, refocused, and essentially relaunched Executive Insight as a pure consulting firm. That was the birth of ExIn 2.0.”

As the company evolved, so did Pascal’s role. He transitioned from tech to operations, taking on finance, legal, and infrastructure - areas that were largely unaddressed in the early years. “We had to build everything from scratch. There was no Office 365, no cloud systems. But we laid the foundation for a smooth, scalable operation.”

Building the backbone

This team that keeps the company running efficiently. “We’re not building spaceships - but we’ve created a system that allows everyone to work effectively. That’s something I’m proud of.”

Today, Pascal leads a strong IT and operations team

The Power of People

Pascal’s journey is deeply intertwined with the people of Executive Insight. From sharing a flat with Andrea in the early days to watching colleagues grow into leaders, he sees relationships as the heart of the company.

People make the difference. Many of us have been here 15–20 years. We’ve grown together, shaped the company together.

That continuity, he believes, is what sets Executive Insight apart.

We didn’t start with values on paper. We lived them first - caring, honesty, and freedom - and then built the company around them.

For Pascal, the most defining moment came in 2008–2009, when the company nearly closed its doors. “We had to save the company, give it a new direction, and start again. That was the strongest moment - but not the only one. It’s been a continuous journey of development ever since.”

A defining moment of resilience

Even the difficult decisions - letting go of people who didn’t align with the company’s values - were part of that journey.

“We’ve always tried to do what’s right, even when it’s hard.”

Looking Ahead: People, Purpose, and AI

As Executive Insight looks to the future, Pascal’s wish is simple but powerful: “To remain a place where people feel safe, valued, and inspired. A home where we can innovate, grow, and continue to make a difference.” He’s also keenly aware of the challenges ahead - especially the impact of AI. “It’s exciting, but also scary. AI will accelerate drug discovery and approval, but it will also change how we work. The scale of change is massive.”

Still, Pascal believes Executive Insight is well-positioned to navigate the future.

“Our focus on people gives us a strong foundation. If we take on the challenge - as we’ve always done - we’ll be ready.”
